SCRIC (South Central Regional Information Center) supports 49 districts serving more than 47,000 students across New York State. When third-party grant funding ended, SCRIC needed a low-cost solution to help districts continue collecting and analyzing DIBELS data, a set of short assessments that measure early literacy skills such as phonemic awareness, reading fluency, and comprehension. These assessments provide critical insights to monitor student progress and guide instruction.
SCRIC needed a solution that could be implemented within just three months to ensure continuity in this vital work. Recognizing the need for a sustainable and cost-effective way to continue their district data initiatives after third-party grant funding ended, SCRIC sought a modern platform capable of collecting and visualizing DIBELS data across multiple student information systems (SIS). The platform also needed to support complex “leveling” algorithms, integrate diverse data sources, and be delivered within an ambitious three-month timeline.
To meet these goals, SCRIC partnered with Mindex to leverage the Mindex Advanced Analytics platform, delivering powerful functionality while keeping costs low and ensuring districts could maintain continuity in their data-driven work.
Our team created and deployed a custom surveys to participating districts, providing a user-friendly interface for educators to efficiently collect DIBELS data.
Robust ETL pipelines were built to make the collected data available in Mindex Advanced Analytics, integrating information from multiple SIS and ensuring accuracy and accessibility for reporting.
Leveraging the Mindex Advanced Analytics platform, SCRIC created custom dashboards that transformed the data into actionable insights, bringing meaningful information to life for educators in participating districts.
Districts are now able to collect and analyze DIBELS data in a cost-effective manner, ensuring the continuation of vital work that began with pandemic learning loss grants. The dashboards are fully scalable across all districts in SCRIC, an ESA serving 49 districts and 47,000 students, providing a sustainable platform for district-wide data-driven decision-making.
As the Broome-Tioga BOCES Learning Loss Grant approached its conclusion, SCRIC and BT BOCES sought ways to sustain the progress made in enhancing student reading outcomes. We instinctively turned to our trusted partners at Mindex for support. In a remarkably short period, the Mindex team designed and implemented a customized solution that enabled us to continue our mission across districts. Their responsiveness, professionalism, and collaborative spirit made the entire process seamless and cost-effective for our region. Mindex remains one of our top partners, and we look forward to continuing to build upon this success together.
