Mindex released the latest version of its student management software, SchoolTool, on July 31, 2019. This update focuses on a number of Discipline enhancements, along with a brand new suite of OneRoster API calls, updated branding, and many other changes.
We’ve been working on changes to our Discipline functionality over the last few releases. Districts now have the ability to categorize dispositions as restorative or disciplinary actions, each of which can be controlled by permissions. We also added security rights for dispositions, including a permission that allows users to assign dispositions in the My Home > Discipline area. In addition, we made a number of other changes to referrals and classroom incidents, including better control over field visibility and the ability to add attachments to classroom incidents.
We added a new Current Marking Period Average Report so counselors and teachers can easily generate a list of student’s current grade book averages based on assignment scores for the current marking period.
Our new suite of API calls allows districts to integrate with other grading applications using the OneRoster standard. This allows SchoolTool to communicate with vendors to send SchoolTool class rosters and automatically receive grade book assignment data from other systems.
Other changes include updates to the SSEC report, removal of the Social Security Number field from SchoolTool, along with any data previously stored in that field, and support for TLS 1.2.
The Dashboards Version 10.0 release includes enhanced Save functionality on the Course Attendance dashboard, so users can now save filters and breakdown selections. This release also added a new Assignment Details chart on the Marking Period Scores and Period Attendance chart on the Student View dashboard.
Finally, SchoolTool and Dashboards both got updated branding to reflect the redesigned SchoolTool logo and color scheme. Updates to branding in the mobile app will be available soon as well!
The next SchoolTool release is expected to be available in November 2019.
