Mindex Technologies Inc. on Monday marked its 15-year partnership with East Rochester Union Free School District, officials said.
The district was the first to use schooltool, the company’s web-based student management software. With the initial support of the district, over 40 percent of New York districts have started using the software, which makes it the most widely used system of its kind in the state, officials said.
“By understanding the needs of East Rochester and other school districts around New York, we created a product that is now used throughout the state,” said Marc Fiore, president of Mindex Technologies. “We’ve been able to create countless jobs and contribute to the local economy. It’s absolutely worth celebrating the growth that has come out of this partnership.”
Mindex ranked No. 1 on the most recent Rochester Business Journal list of software developments and 41st on the list of private companies. schooltool was created in 2001. Jack Hibit, technical sales executive at Mindex, shadowed David Rovitelli, Technology Director of East Rochester school district, to help Hibit understand what the district needed in a software program.
“schooltool is created especially for districts around New York,” Hibit said. “All the information the state needs on its students are collected and sent via the web. We keep up with what the state requires from districts, making their jobs easier.”
